Short Summary

Shubeon, driven by the death of Vultion, sets out to the desert so that he may overcome his fears, and thus prove his maturity as a warrior.

Long Summary

We start off with Great Warrior Egane making an appearance. He is discussing with other warriors who is to take Shubeon on, but before the decision can be made, Egane notices that Shubeon is nowhere to be found.

We are then shown Shubeon facing a group of magic beasts, and a flashback scene of Vultion helping Shubeon with his confidence, exclaiming his son is not the type to lie, and that he should trust in himself. Shubeon uses this flashback and determination to overcome his fear of creatures bleeding, thus allowing him to slay the demon beasts. He breaks through his mental barrier, and begins to slay all types of beasts, even licking the blood from his face, a sign of the completed transformation.

Shubeon returns home to the tribe a completely different person, and is treated as such by the youngsters of the tribe who had bullied him before. As a sign of his maturity, he doesn't retaliate, instead brushing it off as things of the past.

Shubeon then showcases his proof of maturity with all of the magic beast stones he has returned with. Shubeon shows his great potential, and is given permission by Egane to follow in Vultion's footsteps and take on the duties of a warrior by going on the Journey of Life and Death. This is a dangerous journey that hasn't been attempted in 20 years, and even Shubeon's father was only able to clear one of the three following requirements:

Stage 1: Kill a 1st degree of higher magical beast with no assistance

Stage 2: Survive 3 years unassisted in the desert

Stage 3: Travel through Field of Magical Beasts and unreturning forest to reach the Land of the Heroes

The chapter ends with Shubeon having completed Stage 2, and requesting permission for stage 3.
